BE STILL
This weekend at Pensacola Beach!
Good morning to you in the Name of Jesus!
I was at an Extraordinary Women Conference in Pensacola this past weekend with my beautiful daughter. We had a wonderful time! We worshiped and enjoyed the conference so much. But more than that I loved and enjoyed my time with my daughter whom I only get to see a couple of times a year. We live 12 hours apart!
That saddens me to a point. I do know that our children have to live their lives as they see God calling them to do. My daughter and son-in-law are teachers. Children aren't like they used to be. Teaching isn't how it used to be. Schools aren't what they used to be. But while they are doing this, they can make a difference. They may not see it now or maybe ever but God is using them to make a difference!
And God wants to use us to make a difference. But we need to start with this: Be still and know that I am God... Psalm 46:10a
What does this mean to us? Well, we need to stop and spend time in the presence of God every day. Not just praying but reading His Word. We need to meditate on His Word. Not just read it but take the time to decipher it and then see how it pertains to our daily lives. Also, we need to be filled with the Spirit and worship Jesus in songs, and hymns and give thanks:
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;…
Ephesians 5:18-20
If we do these things faithfully every day, it won't take long and we will really know His presence and hear His voice. This is His will for our lives. We are so busy we don't take the time to do these things. What a difference it would make in our lives if we did this faithfully. I guarantee our lives would be changed.
I have to confess I do take the time to read His Word and pray every morning. But I don't always sit still and stay in His presence every day. My mind seems to go to the things I have to do this day. And I seem to jump up and go. Shame on me!
I will try harder to do better at that and I will ask God to help me seek Him and worship Him in this way more often. Hopefully I will do it every day!
Read Psalm 46:1-11.
I wish to give you a few words from http://www.gotquestions.org:
"When we are still and surrendered to God,
we find peace even when the earth gives way, the mountains fall (verse
2), or the nations go into an uproar and kingdoms fall (verse 6). When
life gets overwhelming and busyness takes precedence, remember Psalm 46:1,
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Run
to Him, lay down your weapons and fall into His arms. Acknowledge that
He is God and that He is exalted in the earth. Be still and know that He
is God."
I hope that this helps you in your times of trouble or just everyday worries and busyness. We need to seek God. We need to take the time to worship Him every day. Actually our lives are worship to Him if we live them in the way that pleases Him!
Have a wonderfully, blessed day!
