HE AROSE

Image
Happy Easter! He is Risen! My Jesus rose again! He loves us so much that He died for our sins but that is not all He did. He rose again so that we could live with Him forever and ever in heaven. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 Oh, what a glorious day that will be! When we all get to heaven. My Savior loved us so very much that He was willing to die for us so that our sins would be forgiven. But it didn't end there. He came back to life again so that we would have eternal life. That is everlasting life! Praise God! This is the first verse and refrain of When We All Get to Heaven. Enjoy these words: Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace. In the mansions bright and blessed He'

TO KNOW HIM

Hello and good morning! Hope you had a blessed good Friday! We went to a Good Friday service last night. It was very nice for a death of Jesus service. It was very solemn as it should be. The choir sang all the songs a cappella. They were wonderful.                                                                                                      I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power  of his resurrection and participation in his  sufferings, becoming like him in his death, Philippians 3:10 Blessed and holy are those who share in the  first resurrection. The second death has no power  over them, but they will be priests of God and of  Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20:6 We, as Christians, share in the resurrection with Christ. He died for us. He gave up His life for us. And because He loves us we are blessed and holy. We believers in Christ (the redeemed) are not subject to death because we have life (which Jesus brea

GOOD FRIDAY

Good morning on this Good Friday! I pray that all is well with you. Yesterday was Maundy Thursday. This is the Thursday preceeding Easter. Christians around the world and across many denominations take time on this day to remember the Last Supper, when Jesus and his disciples dined together for the last time before his death. Therefore, many churches today hold a communion service in the evening. Which in our community several churches held a joint service last night. So, today is Good Friday! Some of us don't know what it is. So, I will try to explain that also. Good Friday is two days before Easter Sunday and is a day of mourning and quiet prayer commemorating Jesus Christ's crucifixion. Candles are often extinguished and statues, paintings and crosses may be draped in black, purple, or gray cloth to signify mourning. At least, people used to do that. Good Friday is an important event in Christianity, as it represents the sacrifices and suffering in J

AND LASTLY, REST

Good morning on this blessed day! I pray that the eyes of your heart  may be enlightened in order that you  may know the hope to which he has called  you, the riches of his glorious  inheritance in his holy people, Ephesians 1:18 Saw on the news this morning about a church in Alabama who put up billboards all over the city about Jesus. One of them in particular said, "Strip for me! Hebrews 12:1. signed 'Jesus.'" It was put up right next door to a strip club. There is some controversy about the billboard. Here is the scripture. It sounds logical to me. And the church is standing up for what is right. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such  a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 NLT They interviewed the pastor and he said as much as he could

Good morning to you on this fine  day that the Lord has made! May we rejoice and be glad in it! I pray that you had a blessed night. We went to an Easter week service last night at our sister church. It was a sing. It was great! We sang unto the Lord the typical death and resurrection songs and then some. If you don't sing to the Lord in your quiet time, at least do it corporately, in other words, in church, with others, in unity. # 14 of our sabbath is: Share a quiet and simple meal with someone you love, or someone you'd like to get to know better, someone you miss, someone who makes you laugh. "In my youth, growing up in a Jewish milieu," Abraham Heschel writes, "there was one thing we did not have to look for and that was exaltation. Every moment is great, we were taught, every moment is unique." It sounds so simple to do this. But for some of us it is not. In my house my husband doesn't want to sit at the dining room table but on

GOD'S REST

Image
Good morning on this snowy day! It is hard to believe that we have spring break here in our county and wallah! Snow this morning! It makes it kind of hard to plant our spring garden or flowers but the warm air will come, eventually. My husband called on his way to work and said the roads are just fine, actually mostly dry he said. The warm weather will come soon enough and then everyone will complain it is too hot. I remember the ground hog said an early spring. Well, God sure proved him wrong! Many people up north are really struggling to dig out of the snow. But God knows best and has a plan! # 11 in our sabbath list for rest and worship is: Sit mindfully in God's presence and talk out loud to God. Read Psalm 139. Here are some excerpts:  O Lord , You have searched me and known me... For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord , You know it altogether... Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? ...I will prais

TEACH AND LISTEN

Good morning to you! God's blessings upon you today and everyday. Our God is an awesome God! Worship Him and Him only! I had the blessing of spending a couple of days with my son and family. I have mentioned before that they go to a fairly large church. How awesome is their worship time. Yesterday was the second in an Easter series that is three part, culminating on Easter Sunday. The sermon is put together in three parts wit h the ser m on, a drama video, and the choir with soloists. It is very meaningful. The first week my daughter-in-law sang one of the solos. It was beautiful. I wasn't there but I watched it on the Internet. As I said big churches can do big things. I had a blast with my grandsons. They are so sweet and silly all mixed up together and I love them dearly.  I drove home yesterday in the rain and fog. Ooh! That wasn't much fun but God got me home safely. Then a few hours later we went to a funeral. It was very nice but sad. When a loved

GAVE IT UP

Happy Palm Sunday!  I hope you had a great night. Yesterday my grandsons and I dyed and decorated Easter eggs. I don't believe they had ever done that before. That was the only way we did it when I was young and my kids also. Now they have all those plastic eggs that you can fill up with candy or money, whatever the Easter bunny likes.  Palm Sunday is a special day, the Sunday before Easter. Those of us who gave up something for Lent, there is only one more week of abstaining. Oh my, I can't wait! It has been rough. My husband gave up desserts and boy is he anxious. It has been very hard for him. He usually eats something every night even if it is only several cookies and a glass of milk. But I believe that is the point. You sacrifice or give up something for the love of Christ. Remember that Lent is about spiritual transformation and conversion, and is basically a spiritual training period. Through our Lenten disciplines and prayer, we become more like Jesus an

CHILDREN OF GOD

Good morning to you on this Saturday!    I pray that all is well with you. I am sitting here at my son and daughter-in-law's home. My grandsons are still asleep and I am praying about what God would have me share with you today. My grandkids, both boys, are so sweet. In the evening when they are getting ready for bed, they take their baths. After that it is like a door opens and the boys get so silly. They laugh at everything and make fun and do silly things. They egg each other on and laugh more. Meanwhile we are telling them what they need to do and they really don't listen and make silly of what we say. It is really kind of comical but I mustn't laugh because it is time for them to stop. As I said yesterday, grand kids are just that--grand! And there is a great reason that people that have children are usually young. Is it time for bed yet? ...When the Almighty was still with me  and my children were around me, Job 29:5   Come, my children, list

HOSANNA!

Good morning to you on this Friday!  The last day of the work week! I pray this has been an awesome and blessed week for you. I know that we go through stuff and it may not have been perfect or even close. But with God at the helm of our lives, we have been awesomely blessed, I know. Because I have. God is so good all the time. He is so faithful to us. He never leaves us or forsakes us. That is His promise. I am going to see my son and family. I can't wait! They are such a blessing to me. Children are a gift from God and grandchildren are just that--Grand! I am bringing lots of craft supplies with me so we can make stuff. I know the kids will love it.  The day before yesterday and several days before that, I was talking about the sabbath, not the Sunday Sabbath, but the sabbath which is time away from your regular routine to worship God and rest. It can be any time and any where. Well, I am breaking from that for a few days so bear with me. I will return to that o

THE LITTLE CHILDREN

Good morning on this great new  day, the second day of spring! I pray that all is well with you. I do want to start out by thanking you, my readers, so much for reading this blog that the Lord has blessed me with. There would be no point in doing this if someone didn't read it. And I truly believe God is using me to help someone. Only He will know who that might be. I hope and pray that God is blessing you somehow and some way through this. Well, this Sunday is Palm Sunday. I just love it when the children at church walk up and down the aisles waving palm branches as the choir sings Hosanna! It just blesses my heart. You know, if a church doesn't have children they are kind of sunk, so to speak. The children are the future of the church. That certainly doesn't mean that they run the church. It means that we as their elders must be a witness to them. We must be good examples of how a Christian acts and how we should act in church and in life. We also are to te
