Our Light

Good morning to you! You are my sunshine...!  I pray you had a great night. I did.  It should be another gorgeous day today and maybe even a little warmer. I said it would be in the mid to upper 50's yesterday. Well, I never saw it get over 47*. It was pretty cool but very pretty. I did some shopping yesterday. I was hoping to find a few things but couldn't find what I was looking for. Did you know that if you have mini Christmas lights permanently on your tree or for the outside o f your house that you have had awhile, you can't buy replacement bulbs for them. I mean you can, but only the bulbs without the little socket to put in the light string. I don't know if you can understand that or not but it is very frustrating. The new thing is the LED lights and you can't find the regular replacement ones. So, like us, if you have lights that are burned out on your tree or on your house you are out of luck. But I thank God for giving me an idea. It was like a l
Good morning to you! It is very, very nippy this morning. Everything is white like it snowed but it is just frozen outside with a temperature of 29* at 7:30 AM. So, it was probably colder earlier. I love this time of year as I mentioned in an earlier blog. It will be in the high 50's today and clear blue skies. Praise the Lord! I know in the west the weather has been pretty nasty. So, we are blessed here at this time! Today is a different day. 7 years ago today my Mom passed away. That was a very hard time in my life. But to make it simple, God helped me through it. Without God in my life I would be lost. He has given me peace and comfort and love and people in my life. I won't say I don't miss her because I do terribly and I would give anything to have her back. But she is definitely in a better place. Our world is not our eternal home. Heaven is. Praise God for that! The Bible says that we are to live in the world but not be part of the world. In other words,

Good morning to you in the Name of Jesus! When I thought the first sentence, I remembered when our daughter was young. I used to get her up in the morning by singing to her. One of the songs was "If You are Happy And You Know it." Another was "You are My Sunshine" and "Good Morning to You". I had a couple more songs also. But she never really liked it. She would say, "oh Mom, stop that". She was our sleeper. She liked to stay up late and get up late. But on school days, of course, she couldn't do that. My husband had to actually move her legs off the bed and stand her up to get her awake. He loved to do that! It was kind of a ritual for him on school days. Now she is a teacher and has to get up early and go to school. A few months ago we went to Florida and I got to go to her school and see her teach. She is a smart, good, kind, and caring teacher. We are so proud of her. Now our son liked to go to bed at a decent hour and get up earl
Greetings in the Name of Jesus! Good morning! "Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to  him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously,   that we may offer the fruit of our lips." Hosea 14:2 Is the fruit of our lips sweet fruit or is it sour fruit? I never have been a negative person. I have always tried to be as positive as I can. My husband mentioned to me last night that I have been negative lately. I certainly don't mean to be. I apologize to anyone that I may have said a negative word to. I certainly don't want to hurt anyone.  Am I stressed? I know that I am menopausal. I didn't think I was stressed. I have just been frustrated lately. It seems that nothing goes just right. I broke something last night that I have had for years. (I just worked on this blog for an hour and I hit a button and the whole thing was gone . It kin d of freaked me out. A fter about 15 minutes I was able to recover it. Praise God! That is how m

Good morning to you! Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Yesterday was a great day to worship the Lord. With great services at church, including the Hanging of the Greens last night ended a great day. My husband put on and watched a good Christmas movie with me in the afternoon after a great soup lunch by our youth group. My husband records all the great Christmas movies for me from Hallmark, ABC Family (if there are any), and Lifetime, and the Gospel Network, and then he puts them on and watches them with me. The one yesterday afternoon I cried through and then went to church. I probably looked terrible but I hope my church family doesn't care what I look like. Of course, they might have thought I had something terrible happen to me with the red eyes and such. I pray as a church family that we are concerned for each other and love each other as God would love us. Are you part of a church family? What a blessing it is to have people around you who ca

Good morning this fine Sunday! Another day the Lord has made. May we rejoice and be glad in it.   German Advent Photo  It is dark out yet. I thought after drinking caffeinated coffee yesterday that I would not sleep good. Well, it took me a long time to go to sleep. But I did sleep pretty good. I could have slept longer. I cleaned and went through Christmas decorations and got my tree done last night so I was really, really tired. I give God the honor and glory for it all. Because usually after caffeine even in the morning I don't sleep well. I am so thankful. As I said my husband and I put up the tree last night. Well, part of the lights didn't work and of course, the lights only had a 5 year warranty and it was up last year. My husband spent a couple of hours pulling out light bulbs and fuses and thinks that a circuit is out. Oh my! The whole object of getting a pre-lit tree is so you don't have to string the lights on the tree. Well, maybe it is easier to

“Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.’” -John 18:37 Good morning on this Saturday after Thanksgiving. Did you shop until you dropped on Black Friday? Well, for the first time in a few years we didn't. We really like doing it (why I sure don't know) but I am done with my shopping except for a few stocking stuffers and maybe a couple of other things. So, those few things I need to purchase I can do it when it is not so busy and hectic. I haven't seen the news so I don't know if there were a lot of crazy people out there or not. Grabbing things out of other people's hands and fighting for an item is not exactly how I want to see people. I believe that most people are truly good people. Those that do those kinds of things probably are good people too, but they just go crazy for a great deal and might be extra stressed. In

Hello and good morning! I believe that we should have slept well after eating all the delectable food that we had on Thanksgiving Day. And I sure did! Wow! What a spread.  Of course, we had turkey and dressing, gravy, green bean casserole, hash brown casserole, corn casserole, mac & cheese, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, 2 cranberry salads, rolls, and I believe even more than that. Plus we had apple pie, pumpkin-cheese pie, and pumpkin bread. Oh it was all delicious and we had enough for an army. We are so thankful for the wonderful meal and the hands that prepared it all. God is so good to us! Now today is Black Friday. Ugh! Most everyone and their mother's brothers were out shopping at 7 PM on Thanksgiving night. Some of the stores started early this year which is good for the shopper because they didn't have to get out at 5 AM. But it isn't so good for the employees at the stores. They had to eat a wonderful meal (which always makes you sleepy) an

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Good morning! Praise the Name of the Lord! Read these two chapters of Psalms and praise the Lord! For He is good! Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.     Worship the Lord with gladness;     come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God.     It is he who made us, and we are his;     we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving     and his courts with praise;     give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;     his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100 Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart     in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord;     they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds,     and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wonders to be remembered;     the Lord is gracious and compassionate. He provides food for t

Good morning!  Another day the Lord has made. I slept really good last night and I praise God for it but I did wake up early. But that is okay. I have a lot to do today. I was sorting through boxes of winter clothes until my husband left for work. Then I have been in the kitchen working on some baked goods for Thanksgiving ever since. I have so much to do today and I am not getting done as fast as I would like but you know what? God will work it out and help me do it all and get through in plenty of time. He is like that. He knows what we are doing and what we need before we do or more than we do. We may think we need something or have to do something, but so many times the Lord has shown me a different way or even that I didn't even need to do what I thought I did.  "And my God will meet all your needs according  to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 "You yourselves know that these hands of mine have  supplied my ow
