KNOW JESUS THROUGH HIS WORD

Good morning my readers! I praise God for you! If it wasn't for someone reading this blog, there would be no point in writing it! Even if only one person reads it and comes closer to Jesus because of it, then I praise the Lord and am thrilled.

Grace to you and peace from God our

Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:2

As I was sitting outside a little while ago in this beautiful, cooler morning, I was reading my devotion. I was struck by the notion that we really don't know Jesus. Or do we? We may have become a Christian years ago. We pray. We do our morning devotion, but do we really know Jesus, and understand Him, and seek Him.

Do we really know Him? Do we think we do? Do we read His Word every single day. But before we read His Word do we ask Him to fill us with the understanding He wants us to have?

It is the Holy Spirit that teaches us and explains spiritual things to us.

13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.[a] 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spiritmakes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,

“Who has known the mind of the Lord
    so as to instruct him?”

But we have the mind of Christ.

God gives us the Holy Spirit to cleanse us of our sins and He gives us the Spirit so that we can know Jesus through the His Word. The Holy Spirit bears witness of Jesus:

“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. John 15:26 NKJV (Jesus speaking).

When we pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us, and when we open our Bibles and open our hearts, God promises that the Holy Spirit will help us get to know Jesus. And Amen to that!

So, we must commit to reading the Word of God every single day. The more time that we spend in God's Word, the more time we want to as we discover all the wisdom and encouragement it contains.

Ask God to give you a desire and hunger for His Word and to make it come alive in your life.

Read the Word-Write the Word-Speak the Word!

Doing these things will help you learn it and memorize it.

The early church very rarely questioned God's Word, didn't argue much about it, preached and proclaimed it! They loved, lived, practiced, trusted, and obeyed it. We as Christians will never have a victorious life if we don't love the Bible, God's Word.

So, today ask God to give you understanding when you read His Word. Ask Him to teach you: that your eyes will be opened, your understanding will be increased, your heart will be stirred, and your mind will be enlightened.

Stow the Word of God in your heart. Show it in your life. Sow it in the world. And your Bible, a timeless, truthful, living treasure, will burst aflame in your heart!

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105 NKJV

Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Psalm 119:11 NKJV

Seek God and His Word, and see a transformation in your life. If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you must to that first for any of this to make sense to you. The Lord will be with you and help you always from that point forward.

If not, do it today:    Know Christ

Let me know if you have made that decision so that I can pray for you.

Love and Blessings in Christ,

Lesbear
