Choosing Jesus Every Day: Don't Be Lazy

...to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:2b-3 Source: https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Greetings And to us all! I have not written here in 5 months. Forgive me! Life is so busy these days. My husband, Bert, and I thought retirement would be less busy and more, well retired. But that is okay! I believe we are following the path that God wants us on at this time of our lives and that He knows best. So, praise be to our God and Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, for His great guidance! My devotion this morning was very interesting. Bert and I have had this conversation many times when he was still working full time and pastoring. We discussed the fact that our house needs attention. A house will fall if it is not taken care of. And, of course, he was work

My Dad

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers! Two years ago today my dad went to be with Jesus for eternity! I am so thankful that he came to know Jesus. Because if he hadn't, we wouldn't know where he was except to be in eternal damnation. My dad was an amazing man! A wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and so much more. He was funny. He was sweet. He was so much fun to be around.  On the last days of his life, my sister and I spent as much time as we could at the hospital with him, in North Carolina. Then I decided that I needed to go home to Tennessee and spend the weekend with my husband. I did. Then after church on Sunday I was going back to NC to see dad on Father's Day. When I was about two hours out from the hospice house that he was living in, I received a call as I was driving there. They told me that I needed to get there quick because he wasn't going to make it much longer. I told them where I was and that I couldn't ge

DEVOTION

Hello! It has taken me awhile to start on a new post. Life has been extremely busy lately. A lot of exhaustion. But it is very hard to sleep for long. When I began this blog in 2012, I wrote a new post every day for quite some time, actually almost every day for 2 years. As time went on and I got busier and busier, it was hard to do that. So, now I try to write when the Lord prompts me. The Lord has been prompting me on and off since August when I started this post. And here I finally am finishing on the 31st! Since God has prompted me and I haven't listened, here it is now time to write a new post, so here we are on New Year's Eve.  Have you ever asked yourself this question: Am I really devoted to God? Or am I just trying to make the motions so it looks like I am? This is a great topic for a new year! Well, God says this: 1 Kings 8:61 HCSB-- Let your heart be completely devoted to the LORD our God to walk in His statutes and to keep His commands, as it is today.”   Colossians

ABUNDANT LIFE IN CHRIST

Good morning! Today is the day the Lord is leading me to write a new post.  Today is also the day the Lord has made, and I choose to rejoice and be glad in it!  This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 HCSB This is also one of those days where I am doing little quirky things. One of my blood pressure med bottles dropped out of cabinet, landed on little cup of meds to take, and popped them all over the kitchen. Then, when I couldn't find one of meds, I got another one, and putting the bottle back in cabinet, I knocked another bottle out on little cup of meds and spilled them again. Oh my! There was more. But I won't get into that. Some days are just like that! But you know what? As I said, some days are just like that! But God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. Life is full of frustrations. Sometimes every moment. We go on and we praise God no matter the situation, whether good or bad, and He is faithful, and loving, tru

THE RESURRECTION

Hello! Happy Easter this Sunday! I just received and read a letter from the director of the ministry, One Million Moms. I belong to it. It is one of the ministries of the American Family Association. Anyway, I am going to share this letter with you because it is right and true. He is Risen!     Dear Leslye, A dear friend sent me these words, and I want to share them with you. They are not her words, but these words – or a variation of them – are posted all over the internet. The ones below are taken directly from a Facebook post in which the author is anonymous: An old and beautiful legend says that, at the time of the crucifixion, the dogwood was comparable in size to the oak tree and other large trees of the forest. Because of its firmness and strength, it was selected as the timber for the cross.  But to be put to such a cruel use greatly distressed the tree. Sensing this, the crucified Jesus, in his gentle pity for the sorrow and suffering of all, said to it:  'Because of your

A NEW DAY

I took this very short video this  morning of the snow but for some  reason I couldn't get it to  download. This is what I got. I  believe it works, though! Good morning! It is snowing! As I sit here in my son's room, now my sewing room, I sit straight across the room from the window. The snow is awesome as always! It reminds me of purity, the purity of Jesus Christ! This is a new day. A new week. A new month. And each day that God gives us brings new beginnings. And the snow means a clean slate to me. The saying comes to mind, "As pure as the wind driven snow". Can we make a clean slate of our lives? Oh, yes, we can! Or should I say that Jesus can!  Here is an article:  Lesson 19: The Cleansing Power of Jesus (Luke 5:12-16) .                                   This is a long article but very interesting and could answer a lot of questions we may have. We read this in these verses from the Roman Road to Salvation: The Romans Road to Salvation Meaning: All have sinned a

Seek God with All of Your Heart

You will seek me and find me, when  you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:13 NIV Good morning! I have written my blog many times before about seeking God. But this morning I wanted to read more about how to seek God. So I googled it (actually I use the duckduckgo search engine because it doesn't steal your personal info) and I read an article in Road to Glory . It was a great article. But then I clicked on  Seek the Lord   on Bible Knowledge.com. Anyway, the article is extremely long but wow. It is a definite must-read. Even if you need to bookmark it and read a little bit everyday. However you do it, it is really eye opening. Even when you think you know the Lord intimately already, there is always a lot more to learn. This particular part of the article that made me want to share is this because it is all part of seeking God: "I f there is one major, whopper, profound, can’t shout-it-out-loud enough thing that God is looking for from each one of us – it has to be thi
