WALK WITH ME

Image
Tuesday   Good morning! How are you doing today? I pray very well. I just read a devotional about a lady who had a baby and when the baby first walked, he took baby steps. And then bigger steps would come and then before you know it they grow up. And in the process they fall down and get up many times before they are steady. As a Christian we do the same. We start off not sure what to do. We fall down and get up. We learn and we grow in Christ. As time goes on we know more of what to do. We learn and we get better and better at this "Christian life." We have not arrived, but someday when we meet Jesus we will have arrived. We will know for certain what to do and we will do it perfectly.  When we all get to heaven we will rejoice and live with Jesus for eternity. We will laugh and not cry. We will never be weary. We will never faint. We will never stumble and fall. We will soar on wings like eagles and the Lord will renew our strength. Do you not know? ...

RAISE YOUR HANDS

Monday   Good morning! I want to share something with you. I went to a women's conference in Pensacola last April. A comedian named Tim Hawkins was one of the guests speakers. Well, I guess he didn't really speak, he did what he could to make us laugh. And we laughed and laughed some more. One of the things he talked about was the different levels that Christians raise their hands in church. It is really funny but kind of sad. We are embarrassed to lift our hands to the Lord. We wonder what people will think of us if we do it. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary      and praise the Lord . Psalm 134:2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I  lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. Psalm 28:2  I will praise you as long as I live, and  in your name I will lift up my hands. Psalm 63:4 Anyway, let's not worry about what people think of us. Our worship is between God and us and in all reality it does...

PRAISE THE LORD

Image
Sunday Good morning! I pray that you are well on this Sabbath Day! Yesterday was a great day. It rained and it poured and we needed it. I went to a fashion show with a friend. Then I cooked and we had the Fall Festival at our home church. It was great. Great food! Great fellowship! Great music! Great hayride! It was a fun day! I pray that you have some fun days periodically also. We all need to de-stress sometimes. And I am going to do it again. Tuesday I am going to my son's home for overnight. I will get to see my grandson play his last fall t-ball game. I look forward to that so much since I haven't seen them in a while except via skype. So, I just want to praise the Lord! “The Lord is my strength and my defense;  he has become my salvation. He is my  God, and I will praise him, my father’s  God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2 I will proclaim the name of the Lord .  Oh, praise the greatness of our God! Deuteronomy 32:3 ...

A DISCIPLE IS...

Saturday Good morning on this rainy day! Lord, please bless this day in the name of Jesus. Please let the rain move out before our home church's fall festival late this afternoon. In Jesus Name, Amen! It is pouring and we have a big community to-do today. 150 lb. hog was smoked for 24 hours or so. Outdoor stage for music. Fun jumpy-bouncy thing for the kids. Hay ride and more. Oh my! Lord, help us. Only you can bring us the rain we need and then dry everything out before we start. But praise God, I know that only You can do it! Tomorrow is the first day of fall. I love the fall weather. It is so pretty and back here in the east the trees are amazing. The sky is so blue and the air is so clear. Humidity makes it hazy and the sky isn't so blue. But the fall moves out the humidity and the sky is very blue and clear. The mornings are cooler and the days are also. It is so pretty. And with all the rain we have had this year, the fall colors should be amazing....

ARE YOU A DISCIPLE?

Friday   Good morning! The question from the Barna Group from yesterday was this: Christians: More Like Jesus or Pharisees? "The findings reveal that most self-identified Christians in the U.S. are characterized by having the attitudes and actions researchers identified as Pharisaical. Just over half of the nation’s Christians—using the broadest definition of those who call themselves Christians—qualify for this category (51%). They tend to have attitudes and actions that are characterized by self-righteousness." "On the other end of the spectrum, 14% of today’s self-identified Christians—just one out of every seven Christians—seem to represent the actions and attitudes Barna researchers found to be consistent with those of Jesus." "In the middle are those who have some mix of action and attitude. About one-fifth of Christians are Christ-like in attitude, but often represent Pharisaical actions (21%). Another 14%...

A CHRISTIAN

Thursday Good morning to you! Did you have as busy a day yesterday as I did? I was so tired last night. But I am loving my life. I am blessed to be able to stay home. I have an awesome husband. I have a wonderful family and two wonderful church families. I praise God for all of these things and so very much more. He is so good to us. His mercy endures forever. We started a new Bible Study this morning. I take that back. God started a new Bible Study at our church. It is a discipleship study that is 25 weeks. We are doing it every other week so it will be close to a year. But I am so excited about it. I want to be a true disciple of Jesus or follower of Jesus. It is helping us to become just that. I don't want to be just a Christian. A Christian a lot of times doesn't look any different than a lost person.  Here are a couple of statistics from the Barna Group. They are a research group who polls or questions people to get statistics of Christianity.  ...

WARFARE

Wednesday Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1 Peter 5:8 Good morning! How are you this fine day? I pray that all is well. I can't sleep and it is about 3 AM. I can't just lay there. I got up to go to the bathroom and then can't go back to sleep. Now this doesn't happen every day but it does seem to happen during a very busy week when I have much to do. I want to go back to sleep, it just doesn't seem to happen. I pray and pray and still can't sleep. I had a very interesting thing happen to me yesterday. I gave a flyer to someone for our Fall Festival yesterday. She mentioned how she didn't know anything about church. She didn't even know the vocabulary words--baptism, evangelist, and a few more words. ...
