SHINE FOR JESUS

Good morning!

How are you this great and beautiful day that the Lord has made? We still have snow on the ground. It has been so cold that it didn't even come close to melting. But it should be gone today. It is supposed to get into the 40's today. Wow, we are going to have a heat wave.

The blessing of the cold is that the sky is so blue and the sun is so bright. Likewise, is the Son, Jesus Christ, so bright in your life? Are you so much like Christ that people see Him in you? I would say that in my life I try to be bright for Jesus but there are many times that I am not. And in this year I want to do so much better.

Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.1 John 2:6
Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.
Paul said this to the Corinthians:  Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. - See more at: http://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Becoming-More-Like-Christ#sthash.mrt3xxLv.dpuf
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:16   So, is our light shining before others and Jesus? Are we imitators of God and His Son? Are we walking as Jesus did? This is a lot to think about. This is a lot to do. But with God's help we can do it. He only asks us to do the very best we can. And the more time we spend with Him, reading and hearing His Word and talking to Him in prayer, the better we will do.   These three things will contribute to being more like Christ:our surrender to God, our freedom from sin, and our spiritual growth. I want to share a couple of paragraphs from a website by  S. Michael Houdmann. "God's desire for all who know Him is for us to become more like Christ. We do this by first growing in our knowledge of Christ. It stands to reason that we cannot grow to be like someone we don’t know. The deeper our knowledge of Christ, the deeper our understanding of Him, and the more like Him we become. Among other reasons, we are to know and understand Christ so that we will be secure in the faith.
Of course, knowledge alone will not produce a Christlike character. The knowledge we gain from God’s Word must impact our hearts and convict us of the need to obey what we have learned.
The natural consequence of knowing and obeying God is that He becomes greater and greater, while we become less and less as we yield control of our lives to Him.
It is important to realize that becoming more like Christ starts by receiving Him as Savior from our sins. Then we grow in our knowledge of God by reading the Bible daily, studying it, and being obedient to what it says. This process causes us to grow and occurs over an entire lifetime in Christ. Only when we have entered Heaven for eternity with God does this process reach its culmination."

Praise God! We can start again and renew our lives in Christ and I plan, with God's help, to be a better and better person as each day passes. We can do it together.

Have a marvelous day!

Love,
        Les

P.S. This website is doing weird things with what I type in so please bear with me.
