DENYING HIM?

Good morning!

May God fill you with all His love and peace today and everyday as you seek to serve Him!

Oh, Lord help me with this blog. The website is doing weird things again today.

This last week for some reason all my studies have gone to Peter's denial of Christ. I used that with the kid's at church on Wed. night. Then, I turned to my Sunday School lesson for tomorrow and it was on that, and then the other Bible study I am doing at church was also on that subject. So, I guess that God is telling me something. Either that I need to stop denying Him or that I need to tell others not to deny Him.

So, I will work harder not to deny Him and I will also tell you not to deny Christ. First I will give you the scripture passage. The first is Jesus foretelling that Peter was going to deny Him.

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”
Luke 22:31-34

Peter was so in love with Jesus. He walked with Jesus in person and knew Him and loved Him so deeply. And yet he still denied Him. How much more do we deny Him? We don't walk with Him in the flesh but we can love Him deeply and get to know Him better every day.

Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house, and Peter was following at a distance. And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”  And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”  And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.”  But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.  And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”  And he went out and wept bitterly.
Luke 22:54-62

Oh my! Do we weep bitterly when we see our sins before us? We should. Are we not denying Jesus when He tells us to do something and we don't? Are we not denying Him when we know He is telling us not to do something and we do it anyway? Are we not denying Him when we have the opportunity to speak for Him to someone and we don't? Oh, Lord help us. I don't think a rooster is going to crow when we deny Him but hopefully the Holy Spirit whispers to us how much God loves us and tells us we should have said or done or not done something, just to remind us that we are His followers. Not to condemn us. God does not condemn.

Remember this next verse. This is what God tells us in His Word that we should do when we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior and become His disciple. Just because we get saved doesn't make us a disciple, a Christian yes, but not a true disciple of Jesus. That is what I wish to be.

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."
Luke 9:23

Think about it alot!
