BE A GOOD LISTENER AND BEAR...

Good morning!

Are you a good listener? I am not as good as I thought. And I also notice when others don't listen. When you are talking about one subject and when you finish what you are saying and the person immediately jumps into another subject with no comment on what you were talking about, obviously they weren't listening. And I guess I do that sometimes also. I need to be aware of that and do better.

I don't want to be that way when someone is talking about God or telling me of an issue in their lives and then move on to something else as if they didn't even tell me. We are all called to minister to others and if we are not listening, then how can we minister. And that is a hard thing to do, listening I mean, to someone's burdens. We don't always want to know personal things. We feel sometimes as though we are hearing deep, dark secrets that we shouldn't be hearing. But God calls us to listen especially to Him and to one another.

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
Luke 10:30-37

Here is a quote on thebiblewayonline.com (with no author listed) to really think about: "Folks, the church is a hospital, but it doesn't matter how organized we are if nobody gets cured. If we're going to bear one another's burdens, there's got to be a real dedication to fellowship."

How many of us are truly dedicated to helping someone not just for a minute or hour or a day but days or weeks at a time if need be or even as long as it takes?

Read the whole lesson. It is good: Bear One Another's Burdens

Have a marvelous day!
