Rest in the Lord

Good morning!
Am up at 3:30 am. Actually been awake awhile. Got up and then couldn't go back to sleep.

Saturday, the day after the 4th! We went to a pancake breakfast yesterday morning. We have been doing it every year since the mid to late 90's. We love going to see people that we only get to see once or twice a year. And of course, the pancakes are good. And when my husband works on the 4th I go alone. 

We did a few things around the house and watched movies a lot of the day. Had planned to go see the fireworks. I went to bed about 10 and when I did I kept hearing noises. I thought our cats were playing outside the door but when I kept looking they weren't there. When I actually went downstairs to get in bed I realized what the noises were. It was the fireworks going off 7 miles away. (Could be shorter as the crow flies.) We forgot to go. We haven't been to the fireworks show since our kids were young. Oh well, maybe next year.

Anyway I am doing this and not sleeping. It usually makes for a long day when I do this. But that is okay. God wanted me to pray and do this so I could do other stuff when I get up.

I never really relax. I guess I don't really know how. I seem to always have to be doing something. Lord please help me with this. I can't do it without You. I know that You say,

"Come to me, all you who are weary 
and burdened, and I will give you rest.  
Take my yoke upon you and learn 
from me, for I am gentle and humble in 
heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30

Then, because so many people were 
coming and going that they did not 
 even have a chance to eat, he 
said to them, "Come with me by yourselves 
 to a quiet place and get some rest."
Mark 6:31

I will lie down and sleep in 
peace, for you alone, O LORD, 
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8

So, the Lord will give us our rest. We need to go to a quiet place and focus or come to Him. God is so good. He takes care of us and He knows when we need the rest. We need to take His yoke upon us and learn from Him. Not only will He give us rest but will give us peace. We couldn't ask for more.

Saturday Good morning to you! The beach is waiting. I can't wait to get away. To rest. To regenerate. To be revived. And sometimes we just need to get away from our daily routine in order to do that. Get away from the phone and stuff like that. Unfortunately, with cell phones, these days we don't get away from the calls. It never fails that we go on vacation and always someone calls about my husband's work, either a person that works for him or someone wanting to get work done. But in all reality that is good. It means that the business is not dead. Praise the Lord for that! The beach does so much for me. I have the best time and the most relaxing time at the beach. I guess it is in my blood. I was born at the beach (a town at the beach). I lived near the beach for about 15 of my growing up years. My grandparents built a house in Malibu, CA overlooking the ocean when I was a kid. DROUGHT

  Good morning to you! Has it been raining where you are? It rained pretty good last night here. We need it. Actually we will take it all just so we aren't in the drought category. I saw on the weather yesterday that a lot of the country is in a severe drought.  Are you in a severe drought spiritually? I hope not but if you are, here are some scriptures that might help.
