AGAPE LOVE

Good morning to you!

May God bless you and keep
you and give you peace!
From Numbers 6:24-26.

I pray all is well with you and that you had a great night.

I mentioned another day that we are doing a Ladies Bible Study on Thursday mornings. I have enjoyed it so much. This is the second time I have studied God's Word in Beth Moore's Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit. It is a wonderful study if you are looking for a study to do. Anyway, this past week we have been studying about love and specifically yesterday, Agape Love.

Wow! It is amazing. This kind of love could take pages and pages or weeks and weeks to talk about. So, I will barely touch the surface.

If everyone really loved with this kind of love, this world would be perfect. Unfortunately, we don't. We fall short.

Agape is caring love. The true meaning of agape is in 1 Corinthians 13. In one dictionary the meaning is: selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love, the highest of the four types of love in the Bible; benevolent love for others.

This Greek word and variations of it are found throughout the New Testament. Agape perfectly describes the kind of love Jesus Christ has for his Father and for his followers:

Whoever has my commands and keeps them
is the one who loves me. The one who loves
me will be loved by my Father, and I too
will love them and show myself to them.
John 14:21

I pray that I have this kind of love for others. I don't feel I do so well on this. I want to. I need to. God commands us to. Part of this is ingrained in you when you are born. But then you learn from people around you who don't treat you that way, and it does rub off onto us. And also the fleshly attitude we have just kind of keeps us a little selfish.

Love is hard to give away. We want to keep it especially from the unlovable. But God commands it!

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40

So, we need to do it. And when you study it you find out all it truly involves. It is amazing! And you must love God to truly know how to love.

You have heard the saying: Know God, Know Love; No God, No Love. Well, it is true.

So, love like you never have before. And never forget that Jesus gave His life for you because He loves you.

Have a lovely day!
