LIVE BY THE SPIRIT

Good morning to you this fine day!
I pray all is well with you and that you woke up with a smile on your face. I fell asleep in my recliner last night pretty early. We went to church and then came home and I read Friday's newspaper and some other things and then I was gone. I have been falling asleep every night while sitting. I didn't used to do that. I don't seem to be tired during the day but when I sit down for a while I go out pretty quick and have been sleeping really good. (I read about drinking one ounce of straight cherry juice helps. It does. I do it every day.) That is a blessing for me since my history of sleeping at night is not very good. So, I praise the Lord!

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are
in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God
lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit
of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
Romans 8:9
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Romans 8:5
The desire of my heart is for each one of my readers to live by the Spirit. Do you live by the Spirit or live a Spirit-filled life? Do you even know what that means?
Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—
guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
2 Timothy 1:14
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to
those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body,
but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
1 Peter 4:6
The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and
he in them. And this is how we know that he lives
in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
1 John 3:24
When you become a Christian the Holy Spirit comes into your life and fills you. This is a basic truth because the Bible says that if we do not have the Spirit, then we do not belong to Christ (in Romans 8:9 above). Ouch! I certainly want to belong to Christ and I pray that you do also.

It is the Spirit of Christ that seals our redemption and gives us the guarantee that we belong to Him (2 Corinthians 1:22).
By being continually filled with the Holy Spirit we can live a life under the control of the Spirit, which empowers us to live as Christ tells us to.

So, if the Holy Spirit of God does not live in us, then we do not truly belong to Christ. I have repeated this truth a couple of times but I want you to truly see it. Tomorrow I will give you 5 ways that God equips us to live life in His Spirit.

When I received Jesus as my Savior at 13 years old, I did not really understand it all. I wasn't in church and my family didn't believe. It wasn't until I was in my late 20's and early 30's that I started to see what living for Christ was all about. We were in church at that point. I still wasn't there yet but
now many years later I am still not there yet but I am much closer than I was in understanding living for Jesus in the Spirit. We will never arrive until Jesus splits the skies and we live in heaven with Jesus for eternity. Then we will live the perfect Spirit-filled life with Christ. I can't wait!

Have a Spirit-filled day!                                             Les (lesbear)
