OUR FATHER

Good morning to you this fine and foggy day!

I slept in a little this morning. Woke up a lot last night but went back to sleep easily. That is always a good thing especially for me.

As I mentioned my Dad and Step-Mom are here. I am enjoying their visit so much. They lived next door to us for 15 years and moved to Arkansas last May. My Step-Mom wanted to be near one of her daughters. But in the move we lost them as great family and great neighbors. It is always wonderful to spend time with family.

Anyway, we are so blessed to still have them with us. They are the last elders left in our family. My Dad and I have many memories of fishing together while they were here. That doesn't mean we caught anything but we had fun together. I felt I was the reason we didn't catch anything. When Dad would fish with his friends, he would catch fish and with me we would catch very little or none. Maybe it was my lotion or perfume or my presence. I am an Avon lady, you know. Who knows!

We have lots of memories of our kids getting off the school bus at Dad's house and staying and playing cards and drinking poor man's root beer floats (root beer and milk), especially our daughter. These things were brought up on Skype last night. Anyway, these kinds of memories are always so special.

My father loves me unconditionally, hopefully, but our Heavenly Father certainly does. There are several scriptures that talk about our father compared to our Heavenly Father.

"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may
live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you."
Exodus 20:12

Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined
us and we respected them for it. How much more
should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!
Hebrews 12:9

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead,
bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your strength. These command-
ments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when
you sit at home and when you walk along the road,
when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7

These are not the only scriptures but these are a few. The story of Joseph and Jacob and their fathers and Abraham and Isaac are worth reading about. We don't have room here for these but anyway I am so blessed to still have my earthly father. I know that is not true for all of us but we have the memories of the blessings that we have shared together. How special they are!

So, this day spend some time thanking God for your earthly father and for Him, your Heavenly Father, for giving you the time you have had together. What a blessing! For God is good all the time!

Have a blessed day in Christ!
