OUR AWESOME GOD
Good morning on this blessed day!
I pray that you had a blessed Sabbath Day yesterday or some may say Super Bowl Sunday. I did. Our visitors, Dad and Step-Mom, Loretta, are here and we are so blessed. They live in Arkansas and are the ones who traveled a 7 hour day with snow on Saturday and were nervous and stressed when they got here. They could have waited until the snow melted but they were anxious to get here.
I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord
is my rock,
my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock,
in whom I
take refuge. He is my shield and the horn
of my salvation, my
stronghold.
Psalm 18:1-2
God is our strength, our rock, our fortress, our deliverer, our shield, our salvation, our stronghold, in whom we take refuge. Wow! How great is our God! He should be so much to us. And these things are just a small part of who God is.
O Sovereign LORD, you have begun to show to your
servant your greatness and your strong hand. For
what god is there in heaven or
on earth who can
do the deeds and mighty works you do?
Deuteronomy 3:24
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Deuteronomy 4:24
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock
except our God? {33} It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way
perfect. {34} He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand
on the heights.
2 Samuel 22:32-34
For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our
guide even to the end.
Psalm 48:14
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD
bestows
favor and honor; no good thing does he
withhold from those whose walk is
blameless. O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
Psalms 84:11-12
The LORD is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of
compassion.
Psalm 116:5
God is spirit, and his worshipers must
worship in spirit and in
truth."
John 4:24
Need I go on! Our God is an awesome God, an ever present help in times of trouble. He is always with us and will never leave us. He takes care of us and guides and directs us and heals us. There is so much I can say about our God. But you get the picture.
When we truly know and believe how great our God is, then we can truly try to imitate Him. But until we know God and who He really is, we can't try to be like Him. And that is exactly what we are supposed to do and why we were created. That is all part of pleasing Him.
We were created in the image of God to reflect His glory.
. . . I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
–Isaiah 43:7
We were created for His pleasure.
Thou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour, and power: for
Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were
created.
–Revelation 4:11
We were made for fellowship/relationship with God and with others.
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him an help meet for him . . . And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day . . . And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where are thou?
–Genesis 2:18; 3:8 and 9
We were made to rule over and take care of His creation.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
–Genesis 1:26
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
—Psalm 8:6-8
We’re no accident or happenstance! Let’s live each day reflecting His glory and fulfilling His purposes.
Have a great day!
