MEET WITH GOD
Good morning on this fine Wednesday that the Lord has made!
I pray that all is well with you. I was reading my devotion this morning about encountering God. In verb form encounter means: unexpectedly experience or be faced with (something difficult or hostile). In the noun form: an unexpected or casual meeting with someone or something.
Now I don't think that having a relationship with Jesus is difficult or hostile but an unexpected experience can certainly happen. Just like in my devotion the woman was face to face with a hummingbird. What perfection God has made! She experienced that in a hummingbird and thought of God in His perfect creation.
I also wouldn't call meeting with God a casual meeting. I mean you can come to Him as you are. Casual means relaxed and unconcerned. We need to be relaxed when we come to God. I certainly wouldn't want to feel like every time I came to God I needed to be tense or nervous. People wouldn't come to God if they were supposed to feel that way. Now when we have sinned and come to God for forgiveness we might be a little nervous.
And we shouldn't come to God unconcerned. We should have the utmost concern for God and His will, and what He means to us, and what He has done for us.
Unexpectedly meeting with God is definitely possible. If we are seeking God, as we should be, then He shows up in the most unexpected ways and sometimes in the most unexpected places. Casually meeting with God is good but it also needs to be in reverence. He is our God! He is our creator! He is King of kings and Lord of lords, Redeemer, Protector, Provider, our All in all, our everything.
All this to say that we need to seek the Lord all the time and everywhere. He will be there. He is waiting for us to seek Him and love Him and have that relationship with us.
But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 4:29
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
1 Chronicles 16:10-11
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.
Hosea 10:12
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
JUST MEET WITH HIM, SEEK HIM, AND KNOW HIM!
Have a terrific day!
