HE WATCHES OVER US
Christmas 2010 at our house-inside and out
Good morning to you on this fine rainy morning!
It has been rainy and windy and thunder and lightning this morning. We need it because it hasn't rained a good rain in a great while. And more Christmasy weather will be left in its path. It has been in the 60's and low 70's lately which is really nice but Christmas is supposed to be cold and snowy like it was in 2010. That was wonderful. Our kids and families got here before it started snowing too much and then "wallah"? a white Christmas. It was awesome! I could do that again as long as everyone gets here first. It was so beautiful! I took lots of pictures.
I was reading in the Psalms this morning and came upon this scripture. There have been songs and much written using it but it struck my heart.
I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121
The Lord is with us, watching over us, we will not be harmed. The Lord never sleeps but takes care of us. How comforting is that! When we call out to the Lord for help, it is right there before us in the Scriptures, His Word.
As for God, his way is perfect; the word
of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him.
Psalm 18:30
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
Psalm 130:5
Then the LORD reached out his hand and
touched my mouth and said to me, “Now,
I have put my words in your mouth.
Jeremiah 1:9
The Lord can also put His word in our hearts and mouths if we ask and we let Him do it. I want God's words in my mouth, don't you?
Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation
of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
O Lord, I want to do these things, to pray these things, to be acceptable in Thy sight, to not sin against thee, and to always know that you are watching over me.
Pray scripture. Do you know how to do that? I just did it. Praying scripture is part of the perfect prayer. We need to know the scripture to be able to pray it. We certainly can use the Scriptures in front of us, but to know it so well that we can pray Scripture any time. That is my prayer and wish, that one day I will be able to quote and pray Scripture without the Bible in my lap. It may not be until I am in heaven but I need to try while here on earth.
So, let these verses minister to you and be blessed by them. God loves you, watches over you, and wants to bless you abundantly.
Have a blessed day!
Les
