CHILD OF GOD
Good morning on this great day!
It is supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to it. I would imagine that everyone is going to shop until they drop in order to get the milk and bread people think that they need. The stores are always packed on these days and the shelves are empty. It really is kind of funny. I am not even going out of the house today. Or tomorrow for that matter. I know a lot of people don't like the snow. But tomorrow is Saturday, so no one has to go to work, well I guess a lot of people do.
The snow is always beautiful. I always take lots of pictures and send them to my family. I am not sure what for but I do it anyway. I just like to take pictures.
This blog is a little long and there is a music video included. So, enjoy!
I just came upon a scripture that I want to share with you.
I just came upon a scripture that I want to share with you.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God! And that
is what we are! The reason the world does not know
us is that it did not know him.
that we should be called children of God! And that
is what we are! The reason the world does not know
us is that it did not know him.

So, how do you know if a person is a child of God? Well, children of God first of all believe in Jesus. They show that they trust Jesus by obeying God's commands and by loving others. Then, you can read 1 Corinthians 13 on your own and see how we need to act and share that love. It seems like it would be really easy. And it should be but as humans we just don't always get it right. We try but sometimes fail. At least I do.
These scriptures tell it all.
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
John 1:12
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
Galatians 3:26
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God
and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Romans 8:17
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change
and become like little children, you will never
enter the kingdom of heaven.
and become like little children, you will never
enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:3
Wow! Become like little children. We once were children as youngsters. Some of us might still act like a child does. But that is actually what we are to do. And the last scripture says we will never enter the kingdom of God unless we do become like little children.
As a child of God, one characteristic we need is humility, as Jesus says in Matthew 18:4: "Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." The humble person is, in God’s way of thinking, the greatest—the best example of what God wants in his people.
"This is because humility is characteristic of God himself. God is willing to give up his privileges for our salvation. What Jesus did in becoming flesh was not some strange deviation in God’s nature—it was a revelation of what God is like all the time. God wants us to be like Christ, willing to give up privileges to serve others.
Some children are humble, but others are not. Jesus used one particular child to make a point: We are to see ourselves in certain respects as like children—particularly in our relationship to God.
Jesus also pointed out that as children, we ought to welcome children (Matthew 18:5), and he probably meant this both literally and figuratively. Adults should be attentive to and respectful of young people. We should also welcome and respect people who are young in the faith, immature in their relationship to God and in their understanding. Humility involves not only our relationship with God, but also with other people." 1
So, this is the first and best characteristic to have as a child of God. Can we do it? We can at least try. Humble is: not proud or arrogant; modest: to be humble although successful; having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience, etc. Sure we can do it. Some of us already are naturally. Some of us aren't so good at it. But we can try to be humble and you know what? God will help us if we ask.
When we ask Jesus to save us, we don't become humble overnight. If we were already humble, that is great. But if we weren't, then we can change. We can do it with God's help! I know we can all do it!
Jesus loves you!
Have a great day!
