GET AWAY

Good morning!

Sleep in! What's that? I pray that you had a great night. I sure did. If you call reading until 2:38 AM. Went to a wonderful fundraiser last night for a Christian Women's Ministry. It was great! God was glorified through the whole thing.

I did drink decaffeinated coffee last night or at least it was supposed to be. Finally went to bed about 11:30 and read and didn't fall asleep. Went upstairs so I didn't toss and turn and wake my husband. Read some more. Got up. Read some more. Got up. Read some more. Each time I read, I read a different book or magazine or my Bible study. Finally, 2:38 was the last time that I got up. Then, I  finally went to sleep and slept in until 10 til 8. I know I could have slept longer but I always said that I wanted to have this blog published by 9 AM so here I am. And I think I am late!

You know, it doesn't matter how your night goes, or how much sleep you get, or what big or small things happen to you, Jesus still loves us, still cares for us, still knows our every need and even our wants. He still will bless us each day and bring us through even the most minute (my-noot) situation.

There are so many situations in this world. Many are big and many are small. We see them on the news, hear about them on the radio, sometimes even see them as they happen. A lot of these things stress us out or make us anxious, or angry, or sad.

Yesterday, we talked about Sabbath, (Sunday for us), a day of rest, or sabbath, any day of rest. I mentioned that we need to take time to rest and worship God. We can do that any time and any place. Now I don't mean you don't have to go to church. We do need to go to church to worship and fellowship with other believers.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Acts 2:42

Now you are the body of Christ, and
each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27

For where two or three gather in
my name, there am I with them.”
Matthew 18:20

And let us consider one another to provoke unto
love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling
of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as
ye see the day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25

But God also wants us to worship Him and rest in Him at other times also. We need that. We need the renewing and refreshing of our minds and bodies. The first sabbath or rest I mentioned yesterday was to color one day a week on your calendar with your favorite color so you can't add anything to your schedule. So, the second sabbath or rest we need is turn off the news for one day each week. Sometimes the news causes you to do one of those things I mentioned above: stress, anxiousness, angry or sad. We don't want that. So, turn off the news one day or better yet turn off the TV or radio for one day. Or deliberately turn it off for one hour. Taylor (from yesterday) says: "It is hard to watch the eleven o'clock news with your heart wide open, letting in the misery of neighbors near and far, and then sleep soundly through the night."

We don't want to shut it all off forever. That would be ideal. But we should know what is going on, so we can pray for people or our country. We also don't want to be ignorant or uncaring of our neighbor.

Del Tackett says: "It is important that we have a good handle on what a worldview is so that we can grow in our own commitment to the truth, and to help those we love to grow in their commitment as well.

A worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world. For example, a two-year-old believes he’s the center of the world, a secular humanist believes that the world is all that exists and a Buddhist believes he can be liberated from suffering by self-purification. Someone with a biblical worldview believes his primary reason for existence is to love and serve God."

So, the world will go on without you if you observe a "news fast" for one day each week. When you do that, concentrate on Jesus and let Him cleanse your soul from all unrighteousness.

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you
will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with
all your soul. 30 When you are in distress and all these
things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. 31 For the
Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon
or destroy you or forget the covenant with your
ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
Deuteronomy 4:29-31

Jesus loves you! Let Him fill you  with peace!
