THE DUCKS?
Good morning to you on this blessed Monday!
I just finished reading a book by Karen Kingsbury. Well, actually it was the fifth and last in a series. If you have never read any of her books before, you need to. She is a Christian fiction author and her books are awesome. I am so excited. She will be one of the speakers at a women's conference my daughter and I are going to next month.
You know God is so good and great and awesome. And He even shows Himself in the heart of authors who write books about His greatness. And it is so great that some authors give glory to God in all the books they write. That is what I love to read.
I love to read and the only chance I get is in the evening when I get into bed. I put my book light on my book and read until I fall asleep.
We have been talking the last few days about ways to get into sabbath: worship and rest at any time. The next one, number four is: Feed the ducks. "Sabbath," Barbara Brown Taylor writes, "gives us a rest from our own pecking orders.... When two sets of grandparents are at the lake with their grandchildren feeding ducks, it is hard to tell the rich ones from the poor ones."
Get our of your comfort zone, do something different. Change your routine. Make different priorities. Spend time with your kids or grandchildren. Take time off to do the things you never do or never get to do. And forget about who you are or what your status is and do something good that is off the wall.
For by the grace given me
I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than
you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in
accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Romans 12:3
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one
command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:14
So, feed the ducks, worship God, rest in Him! Notice the "God things". Listen for His still, small voice. He loves you and is no respecter of persons.
Have a blessed day!
