DRAW NEAR
Good morning to you on this fabulous Wednesday!
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
James 4:8a
Are you feeling faint? Are you tired? Do you feel like you don't have the strength to go on? Sometimes I do also. Life can be very tiring. But remember these Scriptures.
...for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not
sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10b
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in
due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:9
Come to Me, all you who labor and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become
my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him;
My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
Exodus 15:2
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Deuteronomy 6:5
I could give you many more verses but you should understand from these verses that our strength comes from God Almighty. So, when we draw near to God, He draws near to us and He will give us strength and rest. We must make the first move. He is a gentleman and will not force Himself upon us. I think sometimes it would be easier if He did force Himself on us, but that point is it would be easier for us. Easy isn't always best. And life is definitely not easy.
We have to make an effort to come to God or come into His presence. We have to do something. I do believe though that sometimes we are so tired and overwhelmed that God puts His arms around us and comforts us without us doing anything. So, He will come to us first. But I think it depends on where our heart is in the first place. If we are already close to God, He is close to us. If we are not close to God, then we have to ask Him to come closer, to draw near. And in that asking, we are making an effort towards Him.
Life is not easy. And the Christian life is not easy. But it is worth it! Jesus is worth it! How could we ever live without Him in our lives? So, many people do and they have no clue how much better life would be with a Savior to lead and guide them to eternity.
When I received Jesus as my Savior at the age of 13, I made the best decision of my life. I certainly didn't live for Him for many years. But I didn't know how and was not discipled like I could have been. But I am sure that was my fault. I suppose that I could have gone seeking for it. But without a Christian family to help me, I was still sort of lost. It was years later before I figured out with God's leading where I was going and how to get there. I am still not there yet but none of us will be until Jesus splits the skies and we go to live with Him for eternity in Heaven. And I can't wait!
Let Jesus fill you with His strength and give you rest. He will, you know?
Have a blessed day!
