THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Good morning all!

Forgive me yesterday because the blog paragraph alignment wouldn't work so I had to publish without making it look pretty. Oh well. Those things don't mean that much in the grand scheme of things. I am kind of a perfectionist in things such as that. But as long as I lift up and glorify God, that is all that matters to me. Thanks for listening to me ramble on.

Our local Relay for Life was last night. It was at a new venue this year and I thought that it was great. And praise God it did not rain. It was supposed to but I certainly prayed that it wouldn't. And God answered my prayer. Our small church does an awesome job of raising money to fight cancer via the American Cancer Society.

I usually don't share from my daily devotion that I use, the Upper Room, but I feel God wanting me to share a little of it. It was about Jesus being our shepherd.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know
them, and they follow Me.
John 10:27

Sheep are very labor-intensive of all the farm animals. They require a lot more work. They need to be checked every day to see if any have wandered away from the flock or have gotten lost. Lambs get separated from their mothers. And when these things happen they are very noisy with their bleating.

Jesus is described as a shepherd. We humans are like those difficult, wandering sheep. We also need much care and tending. Some people get lost early in life and need so much care and tending. There are those who get lost so easily that need to be rounded up and brought back to a caring shepherd. Shepherds have to be very patient, kind and caring. Isn't that how Jesus is with us, always willing to seek us and bring us back to the fold? When we stray and get lost, Jesus loves us enough to look for us and bring us home.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1

He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather
the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.
Isaiah 40:11

“I am the good shepherd. The good
shepherd gives His life for the sheep."
John 10:11

For you were like sheep going astray, but have now
returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
1 Peter 2:25

There are many more verses but too many to list. Remember that Jesus Christ is our Great Shepherd and when you feel lost and lonely you can go to Him and He will give you rest. He will bring you back to His side. He loves you enough to look for you and bring you home.

Have a blessed day!
