Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

What is devotion?  Dictionary.com says:

1.

profound dedication; consecration.

2.

earnest attachment to a cause, person, etc.

3.

an assignment or appropriation to any purpose, cause, etc.: the devotion of one's wealth and time to scientific advancement.

4.

Often, devotions. Ecclesiastical . religious observance or worship; a form of prayer or worship for special use.

So, first of all we should be devoted to God. Then, to our husband and/or family. Then, maybe our job or a cause.  

A  devotional guide would be a way to pray and worship with a theme. I mean each day would be different. You can use the Bible as your devotional guide and just choose a subject. But a guide would lead you through the scripture and maybe give you a different perspective than you might have on your own. Either way is a special way to worship God. But we shouldn't leave out reading and studying God's Word.

I was reading a different devotional guide this morning than I usually use. I haven't picked one up from church. But this other one is Woman of God: Growing in Grace by CTA, Inc. It has a gardening theme which is perfect for spring or summer or anytime. Anyway, the devotion was talking about God's handiwork. I would call the gorgeous flowers and trees and pretty grass and scenery all part of God's handiwork. Even we are God's handiwork.

The heavens declare the glory of God; 
And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Psalm 19:1

 He also says,

“In the beginning, Lord, you 
laid the foundations of the 
earth and the heavens are 
the work of your hands.

Hebrews 1:10

 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Other Bible versions use masterpiece or workmanship instead of handiwork. 

Isaiah 40:21-26 talks about God's handiwork. My devotion guide talks about how we are God's handiwork. We are God's masterpiece. We are God's workmanship. Usually something that is a masterpiece is handmade which also can mean work of art. Let's use work of art. We are God's work of art. Have you ever thought of yourself as a work of art? Well, in God's eyes we are a work of art. We are special to Him. God has handpicked us to be His own. He created us as His own work of art. How awesome is that?

So, when you feel down on yourself or depressed or unloved, just remember that God made you as His work of art. You are handpicked as His own. And as His own, He loves you more than you can fathom.
