WHAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST
Good morning!
This is one of those dreary, rainy days where it is supposed to rain all day. I don't think that we have had one of those in a very long time.
I was up this morning at 4 AM. I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep so I got up and put a laundry basket of clothes away and cleaned up some other things that needed done. Then I got back in bed and read for a little bit and then went back to sleep. Then at 7 my husband came to kiss me goodbye and I woke with a start. He told me to go back to sleep but I got up instead. I just have things to do. I am still cleaning and getting ready for Thanksgiving.
I did get a lot done yesterday which made me feel so much better. God just had me hustling and bustling around. And even though I had to go to town for a few hours I still accomplished a lot and I praise the Lord for it. For without Him I could not have done it.
Without Him we can do nothing. Well sure we can do things but they are for nothing if we aren't doing it for Him. We are just making the motions. In Christ we have true meaning. We have hope.
In Christ we have salvation from our sins: "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
We have God's presence with us: “and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:20
The love of the Father, which eliminates fear: “But the
very hairs of your head are numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of
more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:30-31
We have our names written in heaven: “Notwithstanding in this
rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice,
because you names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20
We have eternal and everlasting life: “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed
from death unto life.” John 5:24
Shall I go on? We have so much in Christ. And that is not the end of the list. I am going to put two links here that give you a very complete list. These are devotions from Robert J. Barth, Associate Dean of Oakbrook College of Law in Fresno, CA. I was surprised to see where they came from. It is a Christian Law School.
So, check these out when you have time. I did not have space to list all the wonderful things we have in Christ so here they are.
But we have so very much, how could we even think to live without Him as the Master of our lives. Praise God!
Have a bountiful day!
