WHAT IS ADVENT
Good morning on this day after Black Friday!
Did you go shopping? We didn't. We spent the day working in the house and not even decorating for Christmas which somehow I will get to. We did go to our church to decorate. Quite a few of us worked on it together so it went pretty fast. Although we didn't get there when they started so the others had a lot done when we arrived. And it looks beautiful!
So, tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a season observed in many Western Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas.
I love this season in the church and in our home. I love the decorations and the lights and the feeling of God's Spirit and love in the air, so to speak. It is a beautiful time of year with the coming birthday of the King, Jesus Christ, our Lord. And that is exactly what it means to me. The commercialism that has been around for years is just too much. I will say that it is funny how lots of people who don't even love or believe in Jesus still celebrate Christmas. But that is great because maybe some day because of Jesus's birthday they will come to believe.
As the Christmas season begins remember the Reason for the season, that Jesus is the Heart of Christmas. That He lived to be the Savior of the World, and that His death and resurrection brought us salvation and life in heaven with Him for eternity.
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a
sign: The virgin will be with
child and will give
birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Have a tremendous day!
