RESTING

Good morning!

Last night we watched our first Christmas movie on Hallmark. My husband records all the movies and watches them with me. It does seem a little early for Christmas movies but it was a rerun from last year. They are all so good and I seem to cry in each one. I guess that makes them especially good.

Time changed last night so we got an extra hour of sleep. I thought that I would probably wake up at 5 AM. It seems like that happens every year. I did wake up very early and then dose and then wake up, etc. for I think a couple of hours waiting for it to get light. I still got up before daylight.

The UT Football game was on after the movie last night. My husband forgot the game was on. So, I put together this blog and then read a magazine while my husband watched the rest of the game. It was the second quarter. Unfortunately, they lost! Ugh!!

TV is a real big thing at our house. I could do without it but my husband's let down time is TV time. That is how he relaxes or lets his hair down (such as it is)! We watch Hallmark movies, a few cop shows, HGTV and football most of the time.

My let down time would be reading but I don't do it except when I go to bed because that would be the only thing I did if I let myself. I get hooked on reading very easily. We all need time to rest and relax and take our mind off our everyday activities.

Genesis 2: 2-3 “And on the seventh day God
finished his work that he had done, and he
rested on the seventh day from all his work
that he had done. So God blessed the seventh
day and made it holy, because on it God rested
from all his work that he had done in creation.”

Exodus 33:14 “My presence will go
with you, and I will give you rest.”

Psalm 62:1-2 “My soul finds rest in God
alone; my salvation comes from him. He
alone is my rock and my salvation; he
is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who
are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

So, let's let God fill us with His presence and give us rest. We do need it so desperately in our lives in order to keep sane and to not get burned out. Those things can happen so easily. We can trust God to fill us with His love and rest because He will.

Have a restful day!
