Advent and Trust

Good morning to you on this First Sunday of Advent! May God bless you and keep you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26).

I pray you had a good night last night. I did and we even slept in a little, if you can call 7:00 sleeping in. My husband is still asleep and it is 7:45. He never sleeps that late. It is very normal for him to get up at 4-5 AM. Oh my! Maybe that is why every so often he sleeps in.

But you know for some reason it always makes me a little nervous when he sleeps late. Does that mean I am not trusting God that he is fine? No. It just means I must put my husband in God's hands daily and trust Him that all is well. I think the devil just likes to make us nervous about stuff and ruffle our feathers a little. He would like nothing better than to steal us away from God and make us follow him. Jesus is talking here:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have
come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
John 10:10

The thief wants to change our hearts, steal our families, steal our joy, and ruin our lives. Because then there is a greater possibility we will get mad at God and turn away from Him. And then if we turn away from God we might follow the thief. Oh we must be careful. Jesus also is saying that He will give us life and make it full. Praise the Lord!
Read the Book of Job and see what Job endured. He never said a bad thing about God and never turned away from Him. What strength of character and faith he had. His family and friends told him that it was God who did all these things and that you couldn't trust God. But Job continued to trust and obey no matter what his circumstances were. Oh, how would it be if we had that much faith.

We know that Jesus's birthday will be here before we know it. Let us go through this Christmas season with joy in our hearts, a smile on our face, and a trust like that of Job.
When we sing our hymns in church, do we really listen to the words we are singing? Read the words to this song:

Trust And Obey
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Refrain

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

Refrain

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Refrain

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we'll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

So, let us trust in Jesus on this First Sunday of Advent knowing that He loves us, won't leave us, and always takes care of us better than anyone else can.

Have an awesome Sabbath Day!
