THE NEW DAY

Good morning! It's a new day!

Greet one another with a kiss of love.
Peace to all of you who are in Christ.
2 Peter 5:14

Everyone with me sends you greetings.
Greet those who love us in the faith.
Grace be with you all.
Titus 3:15

I pray that you had a wonderful day yesterday. We went to Cleveland and Chattanooga, TN shopping and had a great time. My husband, my son and daughter-in-law, and two grandsons and myself spent the day shopping for after Christmas deals. I didn't find a thing except I bought a box of DVDs. That is especially exciting.

God blesses us so much. His blessings abound, even when things don't go as you would hope. We didn't get to see our daughter and son-in-law for Christmas this year. So, we were going to go see them. Then that didn't work out. Then on Christmas Day it was decided that we would go two days later. Well, then it was decided that we couldn't get it together to make a weeks trip in such a short notice. The plans were not made. We had too much to do in order to make the trip and couldn't get it all done. That was very unfortunate but between organizing work for both of us, paying bills, finding an animal-sitter, packing, and cleaning house, we just couldn't do it. And yes, I do usually clean house before I go on a trip. Don't you? Who wants to go away and come home tired and have to clean house and do laundry? The laundry is enough. Besides with it being Christmas and all, the refrigerator is full of leftovers and our son and family are still here. Sometimes we just can't do it all as much as we would love to. And I feel terrible about it, even sad!

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and
delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near
to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord
delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.
Psalm 34:17-20

And surely I am with you always,
to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28: 20

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that
I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of
my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to
seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will
keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter
of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
Psalm 27:4-5

Does it seem a little strange to you also that when Christmas is over, it is kind of a let down? Months  of shopping and preparing and a month of decorating and wrapping and then boom, in one day it is over. But the time spent with loved ones is well worth the effort.

God's promises are awesome and they help us get through those sad feelings. So, if you feel sad or are grieving there are so many encouraging Bible verses filled with God's love and encouragement and promises. Let Him lift you up and fill you with His presence. He will do it!

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this
is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present
help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though
the earth give way and the mountains fall into the
heart of the sea.
Psalm 46:1-2

For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide even to the end.
Psalm 48:14

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain
you; he will never let the righteous fall.
 Psalm 55:22

As I have said before I could go on and on with God's awesome, perfect Word but I don't have all day and neither do you.

So, as the days after Christmas unwind, get some rest, don't work too hard, take it easy. Soon the new year will be here and then it will get busy, we will get back to the grindstone and to our same-old same-old. That means our rut, our routine. But we don't know what the new year will hold for us.

Keep your focus on Jesus, stay on your knees, keep in His Word, and love one another. And everything else will fall into place. May God's will be done!

Have a blessed day!

Les
