WORSHIP HIM ONLY
Good morning to you on this fine day!
Another day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it! I pray that you had a blessed night. It is still night for me. It is 5 AM. I am doing some work for a ministry today and we are starting early. I am nervous because I haven't done this before but also excited because of the lives it can change. God will be with us all. And I can (we can) count on Him!
My husband who is still suffering with his back, has to drive almost an hour away this morning in order to take some supplies to his guys. Poor guy! He hurts so bad. Actually, he doesn't hurt much if he doesn't move. The doctor said that he should feel better in 3 weeks but won't be all better for about 6 weeks. We are depending on God for a quicker recovery and to supply all our needs. For His mercy endures forever!
I have been talking a lot about worshiping God lately I guess because I love to worship God. Worship is:
1.
reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred.
2.
formal or ceremonious rendering of such honor and homage: They attended worship this morning.
3.
adoring reverence or regard: excessive worship of business success.
4.
the object of adoring reverence or regard.
Worship to me is adoring and honoring the One True God. I am talking about worshiping God in music mostly now in this blog. But hopefully our lives are lived in worship to God. Anyway, the first commandment tells us to worship God and Him only.
And God spoke all these words, saying:
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of
the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
Exodus 20:1-3
The second commandment tells us not to make any image to worship. We can worship all kinds of things: money, people, TV, material things or whatever we love and spend the most time on. In and of themselves, these things are not idols but when we spend more time on them and worship them and not God, then we have a problem.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
Exodus 20:4-5
Most contemporary Christian music seems to minister to me the most. I am not saying that I worship the music or the singers because I don't. It is the music itself that brings me into God's presence. And in this I can close my eyes and talk to God and know that He is with me and just feel Him holding me and filling me with His Spirit. And there are certain songs that I can listen to that just float me away into the arms of Jesus.
So, when you listen to music, pray and seek God. Closing our eyes helps keep the distractions away. Of course, if I am driving I can't do that but I sure feel like it. You can do it in church or wherever. Music may not minister to you but to some it does. Whatever you have to do to get close to God, do it as long as it is moral and legal!
He desires our undivided attention every day if not all the time. That probably isn't possible on earth but when we get to heaven, our whole life will be spent worshiping the King of kings and Lord of lords for eternity. I am ready! How about you?
Have an awesome day!
