POURING
Good morning!
The sun is starting to peak out this morning. It has rained almost every day at least once a day. And the forecast shows that continuously day after day. I am sure you have heard the saying: when it rains, it pours. It has definitely been that way weather-wise. But I am sure it is that way in life sometimes also. When we have a trial of some kind, while we are going through that one, another one comes. And they can keep coming, one after the other until it seems that we can't take it any more.
No temptation has overtaken you except such
as is common to man; but God is
faithful, who will
not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are
able, but with the temptation will also make the way
of escape, that you
may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
But God is good (awesome) all the time and He is with us and helps us through those things. It may seem overwhelming and, of course, it is. And some times through it all, we just feel as though our prayers are hitting the ceiling and going nowhere. Well, God hears our prayers. Sometimes I think that He is just waiting for us to surrender and give it all to Him saying: "Lord, help me. I can't do this anymore. Take it all and do what You will because I can't do this another moment without You. I lay it at your feet, Lord, and I put my trust in You."
Surrendering to Him. I believe that is what it takes. Even though we pray about troubles, we sometimes don't surrender it all to Him. He knows our troubles but wants to hear it all from us, but it kind of needs to be in the right way. It can't be in a gimme way. It has to be in a "it's all about You, Lord, way, and not about me."
Does that make sense? Does that mean we are trying to do it all ourselves? Maybe we are a little. It doesn't seem that way when we are begging God to help us. But maybe it is. Do we ask God to help us our way, and not His? That could be part of it. All I know is that He is great and worthy and awesome and that He does answer our prayers, but it is His way and His timing, not ours.
I hope that this all makes sense because God's ways do make sense. And I am trying to do everything His way. I will never be perfect here on earth but all I can say is that I am trying to be better today than I was yesterday. I make plenty of mistakes along the way but I can try to do the very best that I know how. And you can too! With God's help! And He will pour out His love and help on us.
Let it rain!
I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
Have a wonderful day!
