TRUST IN HIM
Good morning on this fine day!
I pray that you had a great 4th and day after. We did. We didn't do anything. We did eat shrimp curry on the 4th. We did watch part of Independence Day. I did try to get a few things done around the house. Other than the trip I made to the store (16 miles round trip) to get a $2.45 can of Cream of Shrimp soup, we didn't go anywhere. I did buy a couple of other things. Then on the day after I had to do some work and got ready to go to my son and daughter-in-law's house. That is always a blessing, to them and my grandsons.
It was supposed to rain 3-5 inches on the 4th. My husband said that it rained about an1 1/2, at least at our house anyway. Maybe the 3-5 inches was for the week. All I know is that everyone cancelled or postponed their 4th of July activities. That is okay. God knows what is happening so I don't need to know, I guess. Isn't it funny how we want to know all the juicy details about everything? Even things that we shouldn't know or don't need to know. Sometimes the details don't really matter.
My devotion yesterday morning was about trust, trust in God. This was the scripture.
Proverbs 3:1-6:
My son, do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands;
2 For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.
But let your heart keep my commands;
2 For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
4 And so find favor and high esteem
In the sight of God and man.
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
4 And so find favor and high esteem
In the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
I usually don't like to use the devotion that I read until a while after I read it, but this one struck home. When we know Jesus as Savior, we are supposed to put our total trust in Him. We do live in a very uncertain world. There are scary things happening all over the world, even in our great country. We certainly don't know what the future holds for us.
In our lives we like routine to a point because there is some certainly there. We know what we are going to do or have to do, and so we do those things. I have noticed that some of those certainties have changed. One of our doctors told us that he was no longer a primary care doctor. When we call him up and say I need to come see you for this reason, he is no longer there. Another doctor said that she was uncertain what is going to happen and where her practice may take her.
Doctors have been just one of the certainties in our lives. The weather is somewhat a certainty. The seasons are always the same. Well, the weather patterns seem to be changing with weird weather and all. I could go on. Many families seem to be falling apart. Job security is no more. Need I go on.
One thing that never changes is God's love for us. He loves us so much that He gave His one and only Son for us on the cross. But not just that, God's plan included Jesus rising again so that we could have everlasting life. He loves us that much. So, when things in life go haywire, remember to trust God. He has a plan and knows the outcome and we don't have to know up front. We can just trust Him because He knows what is best for us. And the outcome is better than we could ever have imagined.
Have a wonderful day!
