Good morning to you in the Name of Jesus! When I thought the first sentence, I remembered when our daughter was young. I used to get her up in the morning by singing to her. One of the songs was "If You are Happy And You Know it." Another was "You are My Sunshine" and "Good Morning to You". I had a couple more songs also. But she never really liked it. She would say, "oh Mom, stop that". She was our sleeper. She liked to stay up late and get up late. But on school days, of course, she couldn't do that. My husband had to actually move her legs off the bed and stand her up to get her awake. He loved to do that! It was kind of a ritual for him on school days. Now she is a teacher and has to get up early and go to school. A few months ago we went to Florida and I got to go to her school and see her teach. She is a smart, good, kind, and caring teacher. We are so proud of her.

Now our son liked to go to bed at a decent hour and get up early. I remember as a little tike, maybe 2 or 3 years old, we would wake up in the morning and he was already up either with the TV on or a book on his lap. We couldn't believe that he knew how to turn the TV on. He actually loved the atlas and maps and all books for that matter. Of course, we were young parents and he being our first child, we had no clue how he could do that stuff. Well, he was always very studious and smart and loved to learn. I guess that is why he is such a great finance guy. We are also very proud of him.

Our children, what a blessing from God!

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward."
Psalm 127:3

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does
not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Mark 10:14

Are we praising God for our children? Sure, I know they can certainly exasperate, confound and frustrate us. But that is okay. God can use our children to teach us lessons the same as He uses us to teach them lessons. Even when our children are adults we can learn from them. But we do have to be careful about trying to teach them in the name of advice. They don't want to listen because they think that they know better. And maybe they do. Not everything in their lives has to be done our way. Actually when they become adults, nothing has to be done our way. They should be able to think for themselves, and they certainly do. These verses comes to mind:

Fathers, do not exasperate your children,
so that they will not lose heart.
Colossians 3:21

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4

I have thought in the past about things I should have done or could have done in raising our children. But you know, we can't look back. Sure we might have done better. We did the best we knew how at the time. And you know what? They turned out great. They don't have to be exactly like us. If all our children were exactly like us, oh, I'm not sure that would be a good thing. God made them the way they are. We trained them the best we knew how and God says:

Train up a child in the way he should go,
even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

So, we have done the best we knew how. We love them unconditionally, take them to church and raise them the best we can, and then God does the rest. And He sure did! The children God has given us all are awesome and we certainly do praise Him for them.

So, let's try to love and encourage our children of all ages, and certainly pray for them every day. And don't look back! Just praise the Lord for them each and every day.

May our God bless you and keep you!
