Our Light

Good morning to you! You are my sunshine...!
I pray you had a great night. I did.  It should be another gorgeous day today and maybe even a little warmer. I said it would be in the mid to upper 50's yesterday. Well, I never saw it get over 47*. It was pretty cool but very pretty. I did some shopping yesterday. I was hoping to find a few things but couldn't find what I was looking for. Did you know that if you have mini Christmas lights permanently on your tree or for the outside of your house that you have had awhile, you can't buy replacement bulbs for them. I mean you can, but only the bulbs without the little socket to put in the light string. I don't know if you can understand that or not but it is very frustrating. The new thing is the LED lights and you can't find the regular replacement ones. So, like us, if you have lights that are burned out on your tree or on your house you are out of luck. But I thank God for giving me an idea. It was like a light bulb went on in my head. You can still buy the strings of regular mini lights so I thought why not buy those and pull the bulbs out and put them in the old string. What a brilliant idea! Anyway, I did buy a string of 50 lights and now I have 50 replacement bulbs. Fortunately, they don't cost a lot.

Has your light for Christ gone out? How is your prayer life?

In the same way, let your light shine before
others, that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16

We need to let the light of Christ shine in us, so that others can be drawn to Christ. If we get a nasty attitude as a Christian, then how do we expect others to be drawn to Christ? People are watching us. They see how we act and react.

So, give yourself a life of prayer so that Christ can rule in us and we can have the attitude of Christ.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement
give you the same attitude of mind toward
each other that Christ Jesus had.
Romans 15:5

In order to have the light and attitude of Christ, we need to spend much time in prayer. You don't have to sit in a quiet room with hands folded and head bowed and eyes shut to pray. Yes, that is one way and the way we should start our day every day so that our focus is totally on Christ. As I said before, that is the best way to start our day. But we can pray anytime, anywhere, eyes open, driving, in class, in church, whereever we happen to be. But we need to pray.

Prayer is communication between God and us. The Bible says we can come boldly to the throne of grace, to obtain mercy, and to find grace to help in time of need. If we, as Christians, could ever truly realize the glorious, powerful privilege we have of communicating with the God of the universe, we would give prayer "top priority" in our lives. It would become the focal point of our existence. We would discover the joy and excitement that comes from seeing...lives changed...homes reunited...wise decisions made...attitudes softened...missionaries enabled to go out...continents and homes reached for Christ...God's work moving forward...all because we prayed.

But when you ask, you must believe and not
doubt, because the one who doubts is like a
wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
James 1:6
PRAY. BELIEVE. EXPECT GOD TO ANSWER.
ACCEPT HIS PEACE. REST IN HIM.

Wow! And we can do it.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
Even prayer. We can do it with the strength of Christ. He will even help us pray.

Psalm 145:18 says, "The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth." Psalm 66:18 says, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." So, when you begin to pray always ask God to forgive you for your sins. Then worship Him. "O worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness: fear before Him, all the earth." Psalm 96:9. "Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3

I could go on and on with scripture about prayer and worship. But I think that you get the point. He will answer. Yes, no or maybe. And no is an answer. God knows what we need and what is best for us so sometimes the answer is no.

I will repeat this so you might remember it.

PRAY. BELIEVE. EXPECT GOD TO ANSWER.
ACCEPT HIS PEACE. REST IN HIM.
Have a blessed and awesome day! Jesus loves you!
