Good morning this fine Sunday!
We had an extra hour to sleep and I woke up really early. Decided to take that time to try to sort through clothes. My winter clothes are in boxes in the top of my closet so I was able to get some of them out so I wouldn't freeze in the mornings. I do love the cool, crisp mornings and very pleasant, beautiful afternoons of autumn. There are still some trees that have the fall leaves but a lot of them are on the ground. Soon there will be no leaves on the trees. They sort of look like skeletons in the winter months when they have lost their clothes. As do the kudzu plants when they die back in the winter. They look kind of iry, or scary, if you know what I mean.
Well, shortly I must get ready for church. Isn't that what Sundays are for? To spend the day worshiping and praising the Lord. A day of rest. To recharge and refill after a busy or trying time at work or whatever you spend your week doing. Sunday is the first day of the week. It is a great day to nap in the afternoon, and just well do nothing. We do need a day like that every week. But we don't always do nothing. Sometimes Sundays are as busy as any other day.
The fourth commandment says "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy." This is Deuteronomy 5:12. God knows we need a day to rest and recharge our bodies and our minds. And if we fill our minds up with Jesus, what a better week we could have. Just as when we start up our day with Him. What a better day we could have. It is all a matter of perspective, I guess.
Hebrews 10:25 says "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching." I love going to church. It is a great place to meet people, encourage each other, pray for each other, worship together, and praise God together. Sometimes just giving someone a smile will make their day. God can use us even when we don't say a word. This is a whole other subject but remember Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven. If we don't go to church because we don't think others are friendly, maybe it is us that aren't friendly. Just a thought. God does want us to be around His people and if the only time we can do that is at church, then we should do it. He wants us to. He is pleased when we do. So, if you don't have a church home, find one. It is much fun to go to different churches and meeting new people. My husband and I always go to church when we are traveling. What fun to go into new churches and worship God wherever we are. You can find God everywhere if you look! When you find a church that you feel at peace in, that may be where God wants you to be. We want to go to church and feel God's presence and know we have spent time with Him corporately. Let God fill you up to overflowing with His love and care. Of course, we don't have to go to church to do that. But that is something God wants us to do.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with
hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Romans 15:13
Well, have a blessed Sabbath day and remember that Jesus loves you!
Blessings to you and your family,
Les
