Ahoy matey!
I pray you slept well. Did you sail into prayer when you woke up and before you put your feet on the floor? I did. Doesn't your day go so much better when you spend time with the Lord first thing in the morning? Mine sure does. If I don't, when I am rushed and sleep in but still have places to go and people to see I feel lost all day, like something is missing. And something is missing! My time with my Savior: talking to Him in praise and thanksgiving, sharing my innermost thoughts, my dreams and wishes, my prayer requests. Being a Christian is putting God first in our lives. Making Him our Best Friend. Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. It is our relationship with Jesus. Spending time with Him in prayer, living for Him, serving Him! We are not going to do it perfectly! But at least we can try hard.

I have always been a morning person. I like the morning. As I mentioned yesterday, I feel like I can get so much more done if I start early. I have somewhere fun to go today so I got up at 5:30 AM this morning so I would be sure to spend time with Jesus, drink my coffee, eat my one little square of dark chocolate, write my blog, exercise, and get ready to go out. When I was working at a local school for 12 years I vowed that I would consistently devote time for Jesus every day. So, I got up at 5 AM every day that I worked and showered and then read my Bible and prayed. I don't think that I ever missed a day. Sure it was early! But I did it anyway because I knew that if I didn't, it would be me that lost out on that time with my Best Friend. And it always made my day so much better.

Jesus does make our day so much better when we spend time with Him. Sure everyday I worked wasn't perfect, but Jesus helped my attitude, and helped me deal with things so much better. When things don't go the way we think they should, He is there for us and help us through them.

Now that I am at home most days, which is wonderful, by the way, I still spend time with Jesus every morning. Now I am not saying you can't do it at a different time every day. But I am saying that it is wonderful to do it in the morning and it is worth it, He is worth it, and it is a commitment. There is nothing wrong with commitment, committing to do something consistently. Jesus will be so pleased that you put Him first each day. We need to make our time with Him full of thanksgiving and praise. He deserves it! He is worthy! He is our Lord, our Savior, our First love, our All in all!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 3:4-7

So, spend time with Jesus first thing every day, and He will give you peace to start your day.
Have an awesome day!

Les
