GOD'S HEART?

Wish this was here! I love the snow!

Good morning on this frosty day!

I am sitting here with my Bible, on my vibrating seat,  with a cup of coffee and my 1 oz. square of dark chocolate, my praise music, our dog at my feet, and my computer, getting ready to face this new and glorious day that God has given us.

We have had 6 1/2 inches of rain in 3 days and everything is very flooded and this morning the clouds rolled away and it is in the high 20's so the all the roads and such are very icy. My husband has not gone to work because of that but he will leave when it warms up a few degrees. We were supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow but that didn't happen. It flurried a little bit. I know that Knoxville get a bit of snow. I called my doctor yesterday for my test results and he had shut down shop because of the weather coming in. Oh, such is life!

Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24

This scripture is amazing and you can pray this as a prayer which is how it was used in the Psalms by David. The Psalms are conversations with God and worshiping Him. They teach us ways of talking to God. When we don't have the words to say to God, we can search for the perfect verses to use as prayers. David wrote 73 of the 150 psalms. The rest of them were written by several other people. Even though David sinned against God, he was considered a man after God's own heart.

David, despite struggling with personal sin, had a heart to please God and not himself. David is described again and again as a man whose heart was after God’s own. David’s desperate desire to serve God, despite struggling with sin, is probably the reason that more space in the Bible is dedicated to him than any other character, including Jesus.

So, we can be a person after God's own heart, even though we sin, if we have a heart to please God not ourselves. That seems easy, doesn't it? Well, our lives are never easy but with Jesus as our focus and driving force in our lives, it can be a little easier than if we try to live alone, without Christ. I cannot imagine what it would be like to live without Jesus in my life. And there are so many people who live that way, maybe even our family and friends. We need to do our best to live for Christ and pray for those who are lost and have either never given their lives to Him or who have turned their backs on Him.

The scripture above can actually be a daily prayer we can pray. There is a book called Prayers That Avail Much, by Germaine Copeland of Word Ministries, Inc. which is full of prayers for all people and situations in our lives, that is totally scripture. There are many volumes of this book which have different themes, such as Prayers That Avail Much for Your Family. These are awesome books that among other things, allow the Holy Spirit to make the Word a reality in your heart. I could go on and on about how these books can help you. Maybe I can do that on another day.

And pray the scriptures aloud. Even at the beginning of the Bible at Genesis 1:3, notice that it starts with, "Then God said..." In verse 6 it says again, "Then God said..." In verse 9, the same thing. "Then God said..." God created the heavens and the earth by speaking them into existence. By praying the scriptures out loud you are speaking God's will for your life into existence. How fantastic could that be?

You can actually google "Scripture Prayers" and find all kinds of websites to help with that or just buy one of the books.

So, I hope this can help you. It sure has helped me even though I have not used the book to help me lately. It is time to get back to it. How about you?

Have an awesome day!
