HIS WORD

Good morning to you this fine Sunday!

Did you have a great night? I sure slept good. I haven't slept that well since I have been back from Florida. I feel so much better with a good night's sleep. It is a good thing since VBS starts tonight. I need my strength. The hardest part is the decorating. I like to go all out. And there will be several of us working on it so that is great.

I was just reading the back of the Cheerios box. It is talking about reading. "Read Together and They'll Read Forever." I guess someone read to me when I was little because I love to read. I don't have much time for it but I do read my Bible every morning and I read myself to sleep every night.

One summer when I was off work quite a few years ago, I decided to read a lot. Well, I ended up doing nothing but reading and sleeping mostly all summer and didn't get much else done. So, I told myself I would never do that again. I can't read now until I get everything else done that I need to do. So now I don't read except as I said.

What I am getting at in a round about way is this: we need to read our Bible. I want to read it forever. I want to read it always. It is God's Word. It is God's guide book for us. Our instruction manual for life.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16

And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
    like gold refined seven times.
Psalm 12:6

...but these have been written so that
you may believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God; and that
believing you may have life in His name.
John 20:31

It is so important to ready God's Word. How can we learn to be like Christ if we don't read His Word that tells us what Christ is like? How can we truly believe if we don't read it?

Read His Word. Study His Word.

Study to shew thyself approved
unto God, a workman that needeth
 not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15

Learn His Word. Then when you are in trouble, His Word will be in your heart.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11

Have a blessed day!

Les
